As a member of the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators, I am now accepting applications for scholarships to be awarded at our Annual Italian-American Day in Albany for the 2022-2023 school year. There will be two Academic Scholarships and two Athletic Scholarships offered in the amount of $3,000 each. These scholarships are available to current residents of New York State that are high school seniors entering college or current college students. Past applicants can reapply.Students who apply for the Academic Scholarship must have a high grade point average and an interest in pursuing a higher education degree. Applicants for the Athletic Scholarship must also demonstrate athletic involvement, achievements and interest in continuing those activities in college. Students can apply for both opportunities.The Conference of Italian-American State Legislators is a bipartisan organization of New York State Senate and Assembly members who are actively involved in promoting and celebrating the State’s Italian-American community. The mission of the Conference is to work hard to elevate and highlight Italian-American contributions to the State of New York and beyond, in all aspects of society, including literature, the arts, architecture and politics. Applicants will be judged by an independent committee and will be based upon the student’s application, grade point average, good conduct, an interest in pursuing a higher education degree, involvement in community service and extracurricular activities, as well as individual financial need.Applicants need not be of Italian-American heritage to apply.
